Entering BASt with our Fast FWD with DynaWare!
What is BASt?
BASt is the Research institute in the department of the Federal Ministry of Transport.BASt’s mission is to improve the safety, environmental compatibility, economic efficiency, and performance of roads.
BASt understood the importance of comparative measurements carried out in other countries. Therefore BASt decided in 2015 to run a yearly Falling Weight Deflectometer comparative test on their premises, to create the basis for a permanent and recurring organization, for comparative measurements.
Dynatest will this year be participating in the BASt correlation test 2025 with our Fast Falling Weight Deflectometer with DynaWare implemented.
The BASt correlation test will take place in Cologne, Germany from the 12-14 March 2025.
Good results in the BASt report 2024
Last year, according to the final BASt report, our Dynatest Falling Weight Deflectometer achieved good results.
Especially in terms of repeatability, which is one of the most important values to verify.
Repeatability evaluates the different deflections achieved on exactly the same spot by following drop applications. If the values differ too much, it would be an indication of an uncertain measurement. Deflections are the base data for the pavement analysis that will be performed afterwards, so it is crucial that these data are reliable!
Accurate test data
These are the test results from last year 2024 in terms of repeatability for one of the points tested.
From the report, our Dynatest Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD13) had no issues in any of the analyzed indexes: repeatability, comparability and temperature.
In terms of repeatability, the graph below is showing the results for one of the tested positions.
Repeatability is one of the most important values to verify since it evaluates the different deflections achieved on the same spot by following drop applications. Deflections are the base data for the analysis that will be performed afterwards, therefore it is crucial that the data is reliable!
The data from our Dynatest FWD (FWD13) can be seen as very repeatable, where the smaller the value the better.
