Tire Traction Tester (TTT)

The Dynatest Tire Traction Tester (TTT) measures the peak friction characteristics on paved surfaces. Ideal for tire testing to evaluate the dry or self-wetted friction characteristics of tires.

The TTT consists of a fully instrumented tow vehicle and test trailer, that uses a Dynatest two-axis force transducer to provide vertical load and horizontal tractive force measurements. As a pavement measurement device, it meets all the requirements of ISO 23671 and 15222, for wet grip measurements of C1 and C2 tires, as well as standard ASTM-E274, and ASTM-F408. Plus the GMW15208 Tire Braking Traction.

The TTT also comply with the standard for ECE R117. This Regulation applies to new pneumatic tyres of Classes C1, C2 and C3 with regard to their sound emissions, rolling resistance and to adhesion performance on wet surfaces (wet adhesion). ECE R117 “Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Tires with Regard to Rolling Sound Emissions and to Adhesion on Wet Surfaces and/or to Rolling Resistance”

Key benefits

  • All electronics are cutting-edge, and the user-friendly, menu-driven Windows® software allows the operator to enter and document multiple test parameters. The onboard laptop computer computes the Skid Number (SN) and the Peak Braking Coefficient (PBC) from the two-axis force transducer in real-time. Data is stored for future analysis

  • Additional software capabilities include automatic system calibration, full system diagnostics, adjustable test cycle timing.

  • The system is equipped with digital encoders to accurately measure distance and monitor test speeds, a hand remote switch to initiate the automatic test, an industrial-rated PC, and a graphic printer.

  • The operator can display all test results, both graphically and numerically. The computer automatically controls all phases of the testing cycle.

  • The system software includes Calibration which allows the operator to calibrate the two-axis force transducer. The system’s computer calculates the gain and offset values for the force transducer and graphically displays the results.

  • Options available: DGPS, integrated Selcom texture laser, dual side water system, blocking bars, stainless steel C1 trailers for longevity, variety of tow vehicles and water tank sizes.
